GARDENING

Gardening is something I stumbled into, but it has always been a part of my life.
I spent part of my childhood with my grandparents, who were farmers. During those formative years, I fell in love with the idea of growing my own food. That passion took root about two years ago after buying and eating a delicious cantaloupe. I saved the seeds from that fruit and planted them, just to see if anything would grow. To my surprise, those seeds produced several large melons that my family and friends thoroughly enjoyed. Encouraged by that success, I decided to expand my efforts this year.

Last year, I planted bell peppers, habanero peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, broccoli, okra, spinach, lettuce, and more cantaloupes.
I was pleasantly surprised by the harvest. That success inspired me to grow even more of the foods my family loves.

This year, I’ve expanded my garden once again.
I’ve added broccoli, kale, corn, honeyberries, goji berries, and green beans to the mix.
